Anker Soundcore Vita Q20
In general, you should not expect much from 60 Bluetooth headphones. especially a set that claims to have active noise cancellation. but Anker’s Soundcore life Q20 headphones surprised us with their rich, realistic sound and comfortable fit that allowed long auditions.

Meanwhile, active noise cancellation filtered out the low-end engine and background noise well, and we were also impressed with the headset’s battery life. However, we could do without the useless “BassUp” bass Boost function on the Life Q20, while the melodies sounded soft (and not very good) when heard over a wired connection.

design
Weighing just 9.3 ounces, the soundcore life Q20 features a padded adjustable headband and a foldable headset that rotates 90 degrees, making it convenient to store the headset in a backpack or bag. The memory foam headphones fit perfectly into my big ears and I never had a headache because of the headband; in fact, I wore the headphones for hours on a coast-to-coast flight without any pain or discomfort.

The power button is located on the left cup of the headset and acts as a Bluetooth pairing button when pressed for a long time. Pressing a second button on the headset to activate the mode, noise cancellation headset, which (according to Anker) is designed to block 90% of the noise from low-to medium with a quartet of built-in microphones. (Soon, we will delve into the noise cancellation capabilities of the Life q20.)

The volume key on the right earbud has a built-in play button that allows you to play and pause music and answer calls. You can also activate the” BassUp ” Bass Booster function of the headset by pressing the Play button twice, or you can hold it down to call Siri or Google Assistant. Next to the volume control is a Micro-USB charging port and a 3.5 mm audio jack for wired listening with the included 3.5 cable. 3.5 mm.

Overall, the life Q20 felt a bit shaky but pleasantly light, and the helmet didn’t seem to suffer from side effects from being put in a backpack that I then put under the seat of the plane.

Usage and performance
Anker SoundCore life Q20 Bluetooth headset review convenient and economical, with surprisingly rich experience

To connect the headset to the device, simply press and hold the power button. I had no problem connecting Life Q20 to my iPhone XS, Dell Latitude laptop or Genki Bluetooth adapter. Remove the link that is not the product I use with My Nintendo Switch. There is no button that allows you to quickly switch between connected devices, but I was able to reconnect my devices to the headset without having to pair them again.

The range of Bluetooth 5 enabled headphones was excellent. By connecting to my iPhone XS, I was able to walk around the office, walk down the hallway, and then walk a few feet outside before the headset’s Bluetooth connection broke. All in all, I was able to move just over 100 feet from my iPhone when I was wearing the vita q20.

the bottom line is that I was pleasantly surprised by the overall sound of these headphones, especially when listening through a Bluetooth connection. For the first time I queued for Bruce Springsteen’s title song, Tom Joad’s Ghost, and was struck by the details I heard in the muted voices and playing the boss’s acoustic guitar, which was quickly followed by high-pitched percussion, a warm synthesizer and poignant harmonica. The Life Q20 handled it all with aplomb, offering a relatively large stage to boot.

Simply press and hold the ANC button on the Left Life Q20 headset to activate its noise reduction functions.

I also tried some of Ravel’s solo piano works performed by Waldo Perlemuter for Nimbus Records. Mocking the details and consistency of recording a classic solo piano can be daunting for any headset, not to mention the cheap headphones, but the vita Q20 has retained its qualities even compared to my Sony MDR-V6 wired studio monitor. Let’s say I wouldn’t listen to Ravel for a few hours on SoundCore cans if I didn’t like what I heard.

Mentioned in this article
For some deep, strong hits, I turned on Aquasky’s “Bulletproof” track and got a hit thanks to a powerful but controlled bass that never overwhelmed the sound in the highs and mids. However, everything changed when I turned on the “BassUp” mode of the headset. Designed to boost the bass to 100%, the BassUp feature turned crisp bulletproof shots into loud ones that flooded the rest of the sound. Those who can not get enough bass can warm up in bassup life Q20 mode, but after trying it, I no longer felt the desire to turn on the BassUp again.

Much more effective was the active noise suppression function of the headphones, which works almost as advertised. Hold down the ANC button, and the headset uses four built-in microphones to filter out most mid-and low-level sounds. The mode worked perfectly during my cross-country flight, almost completely blocking the deep roar of the jet engines and thus allowing me to enjoy my Ravel in relative peace.

However, voices can reduce noise reduction, especially at a quieter volume. This is a plus if you want to listen, for example, to the announcements of the captain of your flight or a call from your boss. On the other hand, you can also hear the clenched bang, the rumbling of the keyboard and the closing of the doors. Unlike some more expensive headphones. as we have seen, for example, in our review of Sony WH-1000XM3. there is no mode that allows you to listen to the surrounding sounds on purpose.

While he was very pleased with the wireless noise cancellation of the Life Q20 and the noise cancellation features, he was less enthusiastic about its wired sound, which sounded disappointing and lifeless. Once the noise cancellation was activated, the sound came back to life, perhaps because the built-in headphone amplifier turned on again.

On the positive side of3, the battery life of the Life Q20 was stable and voice alerts from the headphones convinced me that its battery capacity remains “high” even after several days of use. For his part, the author claims that he can squeeze up to 60 hours of music playback in Normal mode or up to 30 hours with active noise cancellation.
